My story
From the studio to the wedding morning
I'm Aoibheann, a Donegal native, a former model, and a makeup artist for sixteen years. I started out studying for a degree in fine art, and it was during that time I was scouted by an agency and began modelling professionally in 2007.
Years of sitting in the chair while the industry's best did my makeup gave me a distinct insight into high-end artistry, and it made me want to pick up the brushes myself. I merged my love of fine art with my love of cosmetics and never looked back.
I trained in Dublin, London and Paris: the ITEC National Diploma in Beauty Therapy, FETAC Train the Trainer, LA Creative College, the Jemma Kidd School of Make-up, and Illamasqua, MAC and Bobbi Brown certifications. I still travel for courses and workshops every year, because the best artists never stop learning.
In March 2015 I opened G&G, my vintage-style boutique salon in Letterkenny. Six months later we were named Best Start-Up Business, and the years since have brought Wedding Supplier of the Year multiple times, RSVP Colourists of the Year, sold-out masterclasses, and brides at home and abroad.
In 2025 I was one of the final 17 chosen from 80,000 applicants for series 19 of BBC's The Apprentice. Today I lead Sashsó The Agency, work with brands and press, and on a wedding morning you'll still find me doing the hair and makeup myself.
